This introductory course is designed for those who have little or no experience with Virtual Exchange. It is aimed at educators and administrative/technical staff in higher education. The training will engage participants in understanding what virtual exchange entails through considerations of why and how a virtual dimension that focuses on intercultural learning and developing other soft skills may be successfully integrated into existing courses and curricula. Participants will reflect on how VE might also be developed as a standalone project in certain contexts. Tasks will take into consideration the challenges that the various stakeholders might encounter within their roles. Finally, participants will gain experience in, and be asked to reflect upon, digital literacies through communicating and collaborating online via synchronous and asynchronous means, thereby experiencing virtual exchange with international colleagues firsthand.
